Why shop at the Royal Academy?

We are an independent charity with a mission to make, exhibit and debate art. By shopping at the Royal Academy you directly help us to continue doing what we do best: host world-class exhibitions, nurture new talent in the RA Schools and stimulate debate around art and artists.

Since 1768, we have been led by the foremost artists and architects of the day, as intended by our founder Sir Joshua Reynolds. These members, or Royal Academicians, have included Constable, Turner, Gainsborough and Blake, through to present day leaders of the art world Grayson Perry, Tracey Emin, Richard Rogers and Zaha Hadid.

Our RAs help steer our path and support our vision. Many have also lectured or taught in the RA Schools. The Schools were founded in 1769 to help foster a new generation of talent and they continue to do so today: every year we offer a free three-year postgraduate fine art course to 60 of the most promising young artists in the UK. Recent graduates include 2013 Turner Prize-nominee Lynette Yiadom-Boakye and rising stars Eddie Peake and Blue Firth.

We are perhaps best known for our year-round programme of exhibitions, bringing together art from around the world and across the centuries. In recent years we’ve brought the public everything from 5000 year-old Bronzes to masterpieces by Manet, Degas and Van Gogh to David Hockney’s iPad landscapes and Anish Kapoor’s cannon. All of these ambitious projects could not have happened without the ongoing support of our visitors and the revenue they provide by shopping with us, visiting us and talking about us.

Everything in our online shop has been handpicked by our team based on quality and artistic merit. Many products, such as those by our Royal Academicians, are exclusive to us, meaning we can offer our customers truly unique products.
