We are proud to present this rare lithograph by Carel Weight, which was printed and published by the Royal College of Art, London, as part of their Artist’s Choice portfolio in 1987. The shadowy ‘walker from the past’ appears to be the ghostly figure in the bottom-right corner of the print.
Carel Weight studied at the Hammersmith School of Art from 1928–1930, during which time he met Ruskin Spear who became a lifelong friend. In 1947, Weight began teaching at the Royal College of Art, London, where he was professor of painting from 1957–1973. He taught at the RCA alongside Leonard Rosoman and Ruskin Spear, and was a significant influence on the work and career of Olwyn Bowey.
