Artwork description

Williams’ work re-appropriates found images by presenting them in a new context framed or obscured by shape and colour. The Anonymous Collage series is a collection of experimental works made with mixed media and paper found in old books and manuscripts. The series is inspired by rare Tantric devotional paintings collected by the poet and writer Frank Andre Jamme. These ritualistic images were created anonymously by contemporary craftsmen in Rajasthan, North West India, by copying existing symbols from ancient manuscripts onto salvaged paper. These manuscripts were then displayed in their homes to be used as visual aids to further their practice of meditation.

The artist describes her work as ‘deliberately quiet - so as to slow down the gaze and draw in the viewer’.

Artist Sales: this work is sold by the artist. The sale is facilitated by RA Enterprises (RAE) for which RAE receives a commission from the artist only.
