Artwork description

Anthony Eyton RA, whose practice has always included the painting of still-lifes, was for a year-long period particularly interested in painting apples. In the artist’s own words, ‘I became fascinated by them in different situations; here, amongst the rubbish on the table.’ As part of a process of exploring colour and shape, this painting was made in the artist’s dining room (the bright pink in the corner is the colour of its carpet). Apples on a Table is presented among a number of Eyton’s dynamic new works that explore in detail the collapse of some shelving in his studio.
