Product story

Modernist minimalism and complex decoration set up a daring counterpoint in a work art critic Barry Schwabsky dubs ‘Rococo minimalism’ for its use of two different artistic positions.

Jane Harris’s first printed art work has a double reversed emboss, and bears the signature qualities of her paintings – elliptical forms, mirroring pairs, and boldly luminous colour. Its multiple crossovers create a seductive dynamism.
All proceeds from the sale of RA Editions prints go directly to support the RA Schools.

Contemporary British painter Jane Harris is known for using the ellipse as a recurring motif in her paintings and works on paper. A geometric form, the ellipse can be perceived simultaneously as a flat shape on the picture surface and a circle in perspective, creating formal and spatial ambiguities. These ever-changing relationships between surface, light, form and space have been a preoccupation for over 30 years. Through her meticulous process, she creates intense and seductive works that have been poetically termed as ‘Rococo Minimalism’.

The RA Editions programme generates valuable revenue for the RA and in particular the RA Schools.
