Product story

Kustaa Saksi has reimagined one of Schjerfbeck’s self-portraits commenting on Schjerfbeck as a powerful, female, Finnish artist. Saksi’s image contains all of the spirit, wealth of pattern, texture and strength of colour typical of his work.

Saksi is interested in creating contemporary spaces, objects and atmospheres, building extraordinary worlds with playful, paradoxical, troubling yet inviting environments. He combines organic shapes and sensibilities with detailed textures, vivid colour palettes and experimental materials.

Each print is sold in a portfolio.

“Helene’s wearing a colourful cape, sort of a tribal outfit and face paint. I see her as a tribal leader; an iconic, strong woman.”
