Royal Academician Mali Morris' explorations in colour, luminosity and pictorial space make her one of the most intriguing abstract artists working in Britain today. Perhaps best known for her paintings, this selection of prints from 1989-2021 captures Morris’ versatile visual language.
All the works were produced in collaboration with master printmakers – the majority with Kip Gresham. “My thanks go to him and to all the other experts who have taught me so much, and helped this painter to become an occasional maker of prints.” - Mali Morris
On show in the Sir Hugh Casson Room from 22 February 2022.

“Printmaking is so different from the way I normally work. I paint strategically but with a great deal of improvisation, and I enjoy the tension between these polarities. With the graphic medium of screen-printing, I had to plan how to animate the space in new ways, exploiting transparencies, positioning, and changes of scale. I was looking for bounce.”
