Inspiring reflections on memory and mortality, a tsunami of red marks cascades towards the viewer in this delicate, unsettling print.
Parry takes inspiration from ambient noise around her when making her work; “It is often a fraction of sound which challenges my reality,” she says. “It obscures the borderline between notions – fiction and non-fiction, life and death. It forces me to see something invisible beyond what is in front of me and it makes me feel uncertain’.
Parry often combines printmaking and painting and places great importance on the process of making. Working from a dark background she ‘excavates’ the image to reveal what lies under the surface.
