This comprehensive catalogue was produced for Barbara Rae's exhibition Times and Places at The Maclaurin Art Gallery in Ayr. Featuring early Scottish paintings before travelling to Ireland, Spain and back once again to Rae’s beloved Lammermuir Hills just outside of Edinburgh.

An introduction and essay by Professor Duncan Macmillan FRSA FRSE HRSA delves into how Rae has perceived and interpreted the land throughout her career and how she continues to record the memory of the landscape.

Product story

Barbara Rae RA is a contemporary Scottish painter and printmaker. Her dynamic works combine the influence of landscape and travel with painterly abstraction and intense bursts of colour. Rae was elected President of the Society of Scottish Artists in 1983. She was made a Member of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1992 and a Royal Academician in 1996. She has been a Member of the Royal Fine Art Commission for Scotland since 1995 and was a Member of the Board of the British School at Rome in 1998. In 1999 she was awarded a CBE and received an Honorary Doctorate from Napier University, Edinburgh. Rae lives and works in Edinburgh.
