Artwork description

An everyday object is transformed into a curious and engaging image in this striking polymer photogravure etching by Cornelia Parker RA.

Parker is known for her practice of destroying objects only to recreate and transform the remnants, changing both their appearance and contextual meaning. In this print, the glass is broken and exposed to ultraviolet light in order to create a photographic positive. This medium creates a powerful image formed of sharp and blurred edges in the monochrome tones which characterise Parker’s work.

All proceeds from the sale of RA Edition prints go directly to support the RA Schools.
