Artwork description

This print forms part of an ongoing series of portraits by Mark Hampson of fantastical artists that court the uncanny by playing on romantic clichés of artistic endeavour. These characters amalgamate images of historical depictions of artists at work.

In these works the concept is merged with a mutated version of the classic fairy-tale character of Pinocchio in which the central protagonist creates wood-based art works by cutting and chopping his own bodily material in an act of creative cannibalism.

The works are cut on a laser cutter from printed forms and then surfaced rolled with etching inks in a contemporary twist upon the medium of woodcut.

Artist Sales: this work is sold by the artist. The sale is facilitated by RA Enterprises (RAE) for which RAE receives a commission from the artist only.
