A Humument is an adapted and recreated version of the obscure book A Human Document from 1892. Tom Phillips RA purchased the book in the late 1960s for threepence with the aim of re-working every single page through the methods of collage, painting and cutting through sections in order to create an entirely new book and work of art. It has been an on-going process over the past four decades, whereby the artist continues to develop every page.
The limited edition print is p. 168 from A Humument, which captures the moment two people meet in the darkness where ‘iron railings twist into twilight’.
Artist Sales: this work is sold by the artist. The sale is facilitated by RA Enterprises (RAE) for which RAE receives a commission from the artist only.
