Anthony Eyton RA has always painted still-lifes as part of his practice. The unique pots seen in this work belong to his middle daughter Clare. Eyton has enjoyed painting from them, as he says, ‘There’s a sort of oddity about them – they are very beautiful and I paint them again and again.’ Eyton’s study features the dynamic mark-making and expressive handling of paint for which he is renowned. It is presented among a number of Eyton’s dynamic new paintings that explore in detail the collapse of some shelving in his studio.
