Product story

This book, the third in the Ravilious in Pictures series, celebrates the life and times of English artist Eric Ravillous (1903-1942). It reproduces a collection of stunning watercolours by the artist which were inspired by the landscape of Essex and Suffolk. Each watercolour is accompanied by a short essay exploring the hidden stories within each painting. Author James Russell weaves together original research, quotations from letters and observations from Ravilious's friends to paint a captivating portrait of the artist. As a whole the essays provide an intriguing insight into Ravilious and his family, English culture in the 1930s and the constantly evolving landscape in which the artist chose to work.
