Artwork description

Crawshaw Booth is a small village on the edge of the Pennine Hills in Lancashire. The starting point for this dramatic print was a photograph of the artist’s mother as a child, holding a cat. The resulting image is rich in contrasts, with the figure and foliage illuminated white against the black in this contemporary interpretation of a distant past.

The plate for this print was etched and printed by Woodall in his studio at Yorkshire ArtSpace, Sheffield.
