Artwork description

Fiona Rae’s distinctive body of work is characterised by energetic mark-making, playfulness and complexity. Alive with spontaneous gestures, mini explosions and charcoal contrails, these drawings reference Rae’s 2015 series of grey-scale paintings shown at Timothy Taylor Gallery. A departure from her previous pastel-filled palette of pinks and blues, these recent works have a sense of darkness in their layers, drips and smudges both literal and metaphorical. Always evolving and experimental, Rae is also an accomplished curator; she is presenting a gallery of key works by Royal Academicians in this year’s Summer Exhibition.

Artist Sales: this work is sold by the artist. The sale is facilitated by RA Enterprises (RAE) for which RAE receives a commission from the artist only.
