Product story
Frank Cadogan Cowper RA was born in Wicken, Northamptonshire on 16 October 1877. He studied at St John’s Wood School of Art (1896) and the Royal Academy Schools (1897-1902). He began exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1901 and was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy in 1907. His style reveals the long-lasting influence of the Pre-Raphaelite movement in British painting throughout the Edwardian period and beyond. ‘Vanity’ was presented as his Diploma Work two years after his election as a Royal Academician in 1934.
