Watercolour

Sir Hugh Casson PRA (1910-1999) is best known as an architect, watercolour painter and designer of interiors, but he was also a prolific author and illustrator. He was Director of Architecture for the Festival of Britain in 1951, an appointment which led to other commissions including the Elephant House at the London Zoo and university buildings in Cambridge. He was elected to the Royal Academy in 1970 and was President from 1976 to 1984 where he was instrumental in setting up in the RA Friends membership programme.
