Prof. Ian Ritchie CBE RA

Ian Ritchie established Ian Ritchie Architects in London and co-founded the design-engineering firm Rice Francis Ritchie in Paris. Ritchie's architectural practice has designed landmarks throughout Europe, including the glass towers of Madrid's Reina Sofia Art Centre, the Leipzig Glass Hall, Spire of Dublin, Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour at UCL, and the Royal Academy of Music Opera Theatre and Recital Hall. He also writes books and poetry, and his etchings, prints and sculpture are held in public and private collections. In 2000 Ritchie was awarded a CBE and the Academie d'Architecture Grand Silver Medal for Innovation. He was elected to the Royal Academy in 1998 and to Berlin's Akademie der Kunste in 2013.
