Clancy’s imagery has a playful, graphic quality and is informed by her observations of the physical world.
In Clancy’s own words, ‘When I come across obstacles in life, I remind myself that there are also others in this world who, like me, may have the tools they need but not the ability to use them to realise their intentions. The Ostrich, with its impotent wings, seemed like an appropriate symbol for this unsatisfying condition. Like the Ostrich, we all feel grounded sometimes.’
About Niamh Clancy
Niamh Clancy was born in Ireland, in 1975. She graduated from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin in 1997 with a joint Honours degree in Fine Art and History of Art, and in 2002 she achieved a Masters Degree in Printmaking from the Royal College of Art, London.
