Ian Davenport graduated from Goldsmiths College of Art, London, in 1988 and as one of the generation known as the Young British Artists he participated in the seminal 1988 exhibition ‘Freeze’. He has exhibited extensively across the world and undertaken several large-scale site-specific murals, including a 50 metre long mural under a railway bridge on Southwark Street, London. Davenport’s work was part of the 2003 Tate Triennial and is held in numerous public collections. He was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1991 and was a prize-winner in the John Moores Painting Prize in 1999.
