Born in Paisley, Scotland in 1965, Ian McNicol studied Architecture at Glasgow School of Art for three years before taking up Technical Graphics and Illustration. He then worked at an architecture firm for ten years while studying etching at the Glasgow Print Studio.
Ian is currently Madter Printer, Etching Tutor and Technician at Glasgow Print Studio, and often works with artists such as Elizabeth Blackadder RA, John Byrne, Eileen Cooper RA and Barbara Rae RA. His artwork covers a variety of subject-matter including landscape, the built environment and abstract colour. In 2015 he won the London Original Print Fair prize for his etching 'Red Versus Blue'. His work is exhibited widely throughout the UK.
