This screenprint depicting the rippling sea is based on Mackechnie’s photographs taken on the Balearic island of Menorca. It is one of an ongoing series of original water-themed images that Mackechnie calls ‘studies’. Based at the Glasgow Print studio, Mackechnie has been creating editions of original prints in various media since the 1960s, as well as giving support to numerous other artists making prints at the studio. This work was first shown at the RA in an Art Sales exhibition curated by Barbara Rae RA called ‘Between the Land and the Sea’.
Public collections to hold Mackechnie’s work include those of the Scottish Arts Council; the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, Glasgow; the Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco; the Norrköping Art Museum, Sweden; and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
Artist Sales: this work is sold by the artist. The sale is facilitated by RA Enterprises (RAE) for which RAE receives a commission from the artist only.
