This is the second etching following Madonna & Child which was exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, 2015. Madonna & Child II contains a thinner figure but with a similar flow of lines.

Ian Ritchie’s architectural practice has realised landmark European projects, including the Reina Sofía Museum of Modern Art Glass Towers, Madrid, and the Leipzig Glass Hall. Norman Ackroyd has worked with a number of friends and contemporaries to make prints at his Bermondsey studio, including architects such as Ritchie, who are diversifying their practice to include printmaking. This print uses a minimal, elegant, visual language which exemplifies the versatility of contemporary etching practice.
