In this dynamic screenprint the artist explores the tension between male and female forms engaged in the act of performing. Combining sketch-like marks and fluorescent colour which appears to be almost sprayed on, Jones joins his figures together with one line. Renowned for his controversial ‘furniture’ sculptures, Jones’s work is sometimes provocative, but consistently charged with the energy and vitality of human life. Jones was part of a crucially important generation of students at the Royal College, among whom were David Hockney and Patrick Caulfield. He subsequently taught at Chelsea College of Arts alongside many of the other artists in this exhibition.
