Celebrate the new Keeper of the Royal Academy Schools, Cathie Pilkington RA. Collect her work from the RA Editions programme, including her most recent digital print from the RA Schools 250 Anniversary Porfolio.
Cathie Pilkington’s work engages with the canonical history of figurative sculpture. Crossing traditional, modern and contemporary idioms. Her work combines modelled and painted sculptures within immersive installations. Comprising a diverse array of props, materials and studio furniture, site-responsive installations balance chaos with precision, presenting a kind of art historical fly-tipping.
Pilkington studied at Edinburgh College of Art (1986-91) and The Royal College of Art (1995-97). She was elected Royal Academician in 2014. In 2016, she became professor of Sculpture at the Royal Academy Schools. This year, she was elected Keeper of the Royal Academy Schools.
