Mawuena Kattah's practice draws upon an extensive personal archive of family photographs taken in Ghana over the past two decades and more recent studio photographs of family taken in London. She brings people and pattern together in complex, vibrant compositions that entangle an aesthetic and social syntax.
Kattah’s paintings, prints, ceramics and textiles have been exhibited in major contemporary art galleries and museums in the UK, including acquisition of works by the Arts Council’s National Collection and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Part of our exciting new project with Intoart
Intoart’s vision is for people with learning disabilities to be visible, equal and established artists. Their artistic programme creates opportunities for production, leadership and audience engagement. We are delighted to be working together to support this mission.
The Art studio is the main focus of Intoart’s activity and a space for making, learning and sharing ideas. The studio programme runs every weekday. Activity ranges from our Art Foundation programme where people experience Intoart for the first time through to artists developing ambitious bodies of artwork to exhibit as solo artists.
