Artwork description

Print capturing what Alison Wilding RA experienced as “an unpredictable display of shape-shifting geometry”, and “a drawing masterclass”.

Wilding’s inspiration was watching starlings, at Slimbridge, Gloucestershire, gather in winter’s dusk before roosting. She was particularly struck by the flock’s wave-like movement in all directions against a darkening sky.

About Alison Wilding RA

Alison Wilding studied at Nottingham College of Art from 1967 to 1968, Ravensbourne College of Art and Design, Bromley, Kent from 1968 to 1971 and subsequently at the Royal College of Art, London from 1971 to 1973.
