    The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, which has taken place annually without exception since 1769, this year celebrates its 250th anniversary.

    Selecting from over 25,000 entries, more than ever before, the Royal Academcians who comprise the Summer Exhibition Committee have taken on the task of filling Burlington House with the widest spectrum of British art today.

    First published in the 1870s, the Summer Exhibition Illustrated presents highlights of this unique show, including paintings, prints, photography, sculpture, architectural design and video installations by amateur and professional artists alike.

    Alongside stunning installation shots of the galleries, this year's coordinator, Grayson Perry CBE RA, writes about what the Summer Exhibition means to him and tells the stories behind this year's display.
