Freya Payne’s diverse artistic practice includes painting, sculpture and works on paper. She is renowned for her forensically detailed, intimate portraits which explore close human relationships and the dynamics of modern family life. Her Potato Field etchings explore mythology through contemporary imagery. Dark and unsettling, these poignant scenes are rich with narrative and have a strong dreamlike quality which reference William Blake’s religious etchings. In the artist’s words, she is ‘interested in inconsistencies, in loss and longing’.
