Artwork description

Mick Rooney’s imagery is informed by his extensive travels in Europe, Morocco and Mexico. His drawings, paintings and prints explore mythology, dreams and everyday life returning regularly to subject matter such as the celebratory carnivals of South America, rich with passion, music and dance. Infused with warmth and luminosity, his works often small-scale and intimate.

In Rooney’s words:

' I am a narrative painter who seeks stories to tell, and as such I am ever conscious of the perceived difference between ‘high art’ and illustration. I prefer the word ‘illumination’ which, rich with the promise of clarity and insight, somehow speaks directly to the soul.’

Artist Sales: this work is sold by the artist. The sale is facilitated by RA Enterprises (RAE) for which RAE receives a commission from the artist only.
