This dramatic etching by Peter Freeth is, as he says, ‘not typical of my work’. He describes its entirely imagined imagery as ‘a skeletal dream city, in difficult times’. Freeth’s practice as a printmaker is informed by a wide range of sources, including poetry, music, and folklore, historical narratives and his own extensive travels in Italy.
All proceeds from sales of this work go directly to support the non-profit-making areas of the Royal Academy, particularly the RA Schools.
About Peter Freeth RA
A Royal Academician since 1991, Peter Freeth also taught in the Royal Academy Schools between 1966 and 2006. He trained at The Slade School of Fine Art from 1956 to 1960 and in same year he graduated, won the Prix de Rome for Engraving.
