And Another One Bites The Dust, by Peter Donaldson

The starting point for Peter Donaldson’s sculptures are ordinary everyday objects. Re-composed and re-created in new materials, these mundane items, altered yet familiar, acquire a sense of the uncanny.

And Another One Bites The Dust was made by casting a giant foam hand in Jesmonite, a chalky water-based resin. Donaldson manipulates this culturally-loaded object by fossilising the foam and breaking it into three parts which he reassembles in a different order. While this gives them the appearance of a damaged relic from a bygone era, the work title itself pays homage to a 1980 anthem by the British Rock band, Queen.

Each sculpture is hand-painted, initialled and numbered in pencil.

These works are available for collection only from the Royal Academy of Arts. All proceeds from the sale of RA Editions prints go directly to support the RA Schools.
