Bob and Roberta Smith RA: We Have Only Got Each Other
Bringing together older and more recent works by Bob & Roberta Smith, this selling show invites us to experience the world through contemplative art. Small panels and placards featuring the artists’ recognisable bold words are displayed alongside new paintings of Ramsgate Port, where they have their studio. Each painting talks to the other across the borders of their individual edges and poetically looking out across the border of the English Channel; the works literally and non-literally talking to one another.
On show in the Belle Shenkman Bar from 26 March 2024 - 23 March 2025.

"We have only got each other. Having conversations with each other is a beautiful thing. And talking in a bar about the importance of art brings us together. This is an exhibition to inspire conversations. Pairs of paintings that can talk to each other and to you. Talk about art and a let art talk to you. It takes two to view, you and art!
