Cornelia Parker RA: Being and Un-being

Cornelia Parker RA:
Being and Un-being

This display presents Cornelia Parker RA’s polymer gravure etchings from four series: Thirty Pieces of Silver Exposed, One Day This Glass Will Break, Fox Talbot’s Articles of Glass and Through a Glass Darkly.

Elected to the Academy as a sculptor, Parker is best known for her large-scale, often site-specific installations where she explores the fragility of existence and the transformation of matter. Here, she translates this through print. Showcasing her continued involvement with materials like silver and glass, these works use antique objects and vintage photographic negatives to expose layers of time.

On show in The Academicians' Room until 28 April 2024.

"It’s about recording something durational, compressing time. I’m chronicling a moment  in transition where the prints become a physical trace. I’m interested in the margins of things,  the imperfections, the undersides, the verso, capturing the shadows of these small entities; Mining ordinary everyday objects to unleash catalysts for thought."
