Each book in this limited edition of 75 is accompanied by Norman Ackroyd RA's etching The Noup of Noss. Depicting the highest cliff on Shetland’s east coast, this print has the unmistakable vantage point of an artist painting from the water. Printed on Atsuchi 67 gsm Japanese paper, each print is signed and numbered by the artist.
A Shetland Notebook contains 39 watercolours selected from various journeys to the edges of the Shetland Islands in the spring and summer of 2012. Back in his Bermondsey studio, with the assistance of artist Niamh Clancy, Ackroyd uses these studies made en plein air as a foundation for creating beautiful monochrome prints like The Noup of Noss.
