Bender is from a series of etchings featuring six characters: the celebrity, the fashion model, the corporate executive, a transsexual, a terrorist and the depressed urbanist. All are inspired by media coverage of specific events.
Produced in a limited edition of 30, each print is signed and numbered by the artist.
In this suite of six etchings, Boshier features six characters: the celebrity, the fashion model, the corporate executive, a transsexual, a terrorist and the depressed urbanist. Most of these characters were directly inspired by media news coverage of specific events. Boshier has been drawing on media coverage as a source of inspiration since the early 1960s when he was part of the British Pop Art movement. The series was commissioned by Eileen Cooper RA, who was our head of the Print Department at the Royal Academy Schools at the time. The commission was part of a project to bring established artists into the School to make prints for their collection.
All proceeds from the sale of RA Editions prints go directly to support the RA Schools.

The RA Editions programme generates valuable revenue for the RA and in particular the RA Schools.
