Artist profile
Emma Stibbon RA was born in Germany (1962). She studied at Goldsmiths College, London, and the University of the West of England, Bristol. She’s currently senior lecturer in Fine Art at the University of Brighton.
She has participated in residencies, including the Scott Polar Research Institute placement in Antarctica, the Arctic Circle expedition to Svalbard, and the Derek Hill scholarship at the British School at Rome.
Stibborn has recently taken part in shows at Galerie Bastian and the Stadtmuseum (Berlin), the Polar Museum (Cambridge), and the Alan Cristea Gallery and ROOM (London).
Private and public collections holding her work include the Laing Art Gallery (Newcastle), the Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery, Pallant House Gallery (Chichester), Potsdam Museum, and Victoria and Albert Museum (London). She was elected Royal Academician in 2013.
