Anthony Whisaw studied at Chelsea School of Art and the Royal College of Art, London, between 1948 and 1955. He was awarded the RCA's traveling scholarship and a Spanish Goverment Scholarship soon after. His work deals with explorations of memory and experience. On the edge of representation, varying in intent, scale and depiction, his art seeks to reconcile illusion and allusion, the abstract and the figurative. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1989 and lives and works in London.
