Product story

Calum McClure’s painterly etching, Light Shadows in the Botanics depicts Edinburgh Botanical Gardens. The artist’s use of the sugar-lift technique gives the image its painterly quality whilst the limited palette of burnt orange tones creates shadow and within this atmospheric print.
McClure’s drawings, prints and paintings explore country estates, cemeteries, national parks and public gardens – places created for man’s solace and pleasure.
This print was produced at the Glasgow Print Studio.

Calum McClure was born in 1987 and graduated in Drawing and Painting from Edinburgh College of Art in 2010.Through painting, monotype and etching McClure explores ideas of place, transience and nature.
