Product story

A recurring theme in Gary Hume’s two new prints is nature, in all its forms: from the initial desire to create, to the inspiration behind the subjects and their ‘natural relationship to scale, as if they are real’. Hume embraces the spontaneous nature of the woodblock technique, where mis-registration and accidents are 'part of the beauty'.

“What’s really lovely about doing these prints is after placing the different wood blocks in, a slight twist one way or another is just remarkable and makes each one unique…so while you’re printing you’re still drawing.”

Printed in the RA Schools with printmaker Leigh Clarke.
