Petits Roché 3 Piece Degas Pastel Set

In celebration of our exhibition Impressionist on Paper, curator Ann Dumas visited Maison du Pastel and with Margaret (one of the proprietors) made selections of half sticks based on key works in the exhibition. This set is inspired by Edgar Degas' work Dancer Yawning (Dancer Stretching).

Made in small batches, Roché pastels are rolled individually by hand, to give them a shape useful for both bold artwork and detailed work. Made with pigments of exceptional light resistance and a minimum of binder, the pastels have a particular texture which allows them to adhere perfectly to many supports, and colors of remarkable intensity and clarity.
