Philip Sutton RA studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, London from 1948 to 1953. After winning the Summer Composition Prize he travelled Spain, France and Italy on scholarships before returning to teach at the Slade from 1954 to 1963.
Sutton was elected a Royal Academician in 1988 and lives and works in Dorset.
