Product story
In 1940 the Summer Exhibition poster was designed by Alfred Thomson RA. Thomson was a successful commercial artist and later worked as a War Artist on behalf of the RAF. His design features the statue of Joshua Reynolds by Alfred Drury, erected in 1931. This iconic statue appears in many later Summer Exhibition posters, including the poster for this year's 250th show.
