"In 1979, Ulay and I lived in the Central Australian desert with aboriginal tribes. Once, a medicine man walked us through the desert showing us some sights of the dream land. He stopped and stood in front of a rock, sang to the rock, danced around it, and then gently cleaned the rock by brushing it with leaves. He introduced the rock to us as his grandfather. Since then, rocks, for me, have eyes, they have a memory, and they are living entities." - Marina Abramović
