Norman Ackroyd RA was widely regarded as one of the finest printmakers.

Norman Ackroyd RA (1938-2024) studied at Leeds College of Art from 1956 to 1961 and London’s Royal College of Art from 1961 to 1964.


He’s enjoyed solo exhibitions at galleries including Anderson O’Day Fine Art, London; Aitken Dott, Edinburgh; Jersey Arts Centre; Compass Gallery, Glasgow; National Museum of Art, Santiago; Jan Turner, Los Angeles; Dolan/Maxwell Gallery, Philadelphia, and the Mickleson Gallery, Washington DC.


His public murals include etched stainless steel or bronze works, including commissions for Lloyds Bank; Lazard & Co Ltd; Freshfields, London; British Airways, Birmingham Airport; Tetrapack, Stockley Park and Heathrow and the British Embassy, Moscow.


Ackroyd was elected a Royal Academician in 1991, and made Senior Fellow, Royal College of Art in 2000.
