Anne Desmet RA
Anne Desmet RA uses traditional printmaking techniques such as wood engraving and lino cutting to depict the evolution of the urban landscape.
Artist profile
Anne Desmet RA followed her studies at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, University of Oxford and London’s Central School of Art and Design with a scholarship award at the British School at Rome in 1989. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and a Member of the Society of Wood Engravers.
Desmet depicts the evolution of the urban landscape through collage and print, looking at the aspirations and experiences of humanity, with a particular focus on Italy, London and the Babel Tower.
Her work is made using traditional printmaking techniques and ranges from small scale, detailed examinations to sweeping, often fantastical, panoramas viewed from a bird’s eye perspective.
